Valentina Pini

Valentina Pini (*1982 in Sorengo, Ticino, Switzerland) studied at HEAD (Geneva University of Art and Design) and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Additionally, she holds a Master from the Royal College of Art, London (2015). Pini’s work encompasses sculpture, installation, video, and photography or photograms. Her videos often comprise custom composed and produced music underlining the enigmatic character of her work. Valentina Pini is intrigued by the transformative power of banal materials that are used in everyday life and are not paid attention to by a vast

majority of people, such as packaging for fruit and vegetable. She is also fascinated by organic matter which, when seen from a macro-perspective, reveals unexpected features and a seductive but also ambiguous beauty. Pini finds inspiration for her work in alchemy, physics, and chemistry as well as in the world of parascience and magic.  Experimenting, coincidence, and intuition play an important part in Pini’s work process.  She mesmerizes the viewer’s perception and aims to capture their imagination through her artworks and installations.
